Following the attack on the Pathankot air base in India, the
Pakistani authorities have carried out raids at different places and arrested
some suspects in the case, intelligence officials said.
According to intelligence official sources raids were
carried out in Jhelum, Gujranwala, and Bahawalpur districts and on the basis of
suspect an unspecified number of people were arrested.
Sources said that investigations were going to determine
whether they were involved in the attack or assisted it.
Following the arrests, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered a
Joint Investigation Team of IB, Military Intelligence, Inter-Services
Intelligence, Federal Investigation Agency and Police to thoroughly investigate
the Pathankot attack links to Pakistan.
The Pakistan Prime Minister had earlier said that it will
conduct a transparent investigation into the case and will not spare those
involved in the case.
India has provided to Pakistan all inputs, including the
telephone numbers contacted by the airbase attackers and asked Islamabad to
take disciplinary actions against the possible mastermind.
